1 killed and 3 soldiers injured during terrorist encounter in J&K

New Delhi: Three soldiers were wounded and an army officer was killed in action during a confrontation with terrorists in Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir. JCO Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar was killed in battle during a joint counter-terror operation that was initiated on Saturday in Kishtwar’s Bhart Ridge, according to a post on X by the army’s 16 Corps. The 2 Para (SF) was where Naib Subedar Kumar was from.

The anti-terror operation coincides with a heightened search following the recent deaths of two village defense guards (VDGs). The most recent encounter occurred at approximately 11 a.m. when police and army search forces stopped terrorists in a forest a few kilometers from the location where the bullet-riddled bodies of VDGs Nazir Ahmad and Kuldeep Kumar were discovered. Following the terrorists’ abduction and murder of the VDGs, a large search and rescue effort was initiated Thursday evening in the forests of Kuntwara and Keshwan.
