Jogeshwari, September 24, 2024: Jogeshwari’s streets are now lined with banners declaring, “Jogeshwari’s people are determined—this time, only a BJP MLA!” But beneath the surface, a fierce internal battle for the party’s nomination is unfolding within the BJP.
Two days ago, former corporator Ujwala Modak and her supporters met with Devendra Fadnavis, submitting a petition to retain the constituency for the BJP. In response, district president Santosh Medhekar’s supporters have launched strong protests, demanding his candidacy. This internal rift has caused growing unrest within the party.
Significantly, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Manda Mane has publicly endorsed Medhekar, praising his work and firmly stating, “He is the right candidate for Jogeshwari’s development.” Mane’s backing has added fuel to the ongoing conflict between Modak and Medhekar’s supporters.
As tensions rise between the two camps, the question looms large—Is everything truly smooth within BJP in Jogeshwari? With the added challenge of securing the seat against the Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction, BJP’s internal turmoil has taken a new turn. All eyes are now on the final decision regarding the nomination for Jogeshwari East.
