‘No male tailor should take women’s measurements’ A UP panel suggests safety precautions, for women.

Uttar Pradesh: In order to increase women’s safety, the Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission has suggested measures such as prohibiting male tailors from taking women’s measurements and limiting men’s ability to coach women in yoga and gyms.

To improve women’s security in public and commercial settings, the commission has also recommended recruiting women to work in women’s clothing businesses and stationing them on school buses.

“These are preliminary discussions. The viability of these suggestions has not yet been determined. Maneesha Ahlawat, a commission member, was quoted in the report as saying, “Once approved, these proposals will be submitted to the government to draft a policy for ground-level implementation.”

However, local establishments have been instructed by Shamli district probation officer Hamid Hussain to start implementing new safety regulations, which include hiring female instructors or trainers for women’s gyms, drama centres, and yoga centres, as well as setting up CCTV systems with DVR capability for surveillance.
