Mumbai: Three locals were killed when a fire broke out in the Riya Palace building in Lokhandwala, Andheri, at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The fatalities were identified as an elderly couple, Chandraprakash Soni, 74, and Kanta Soni, 74, as well as their employee, Pelubeta, 42. They resided on the tenth floor of the fourteen-story structure.
The fire was extinguished by 8:55 am, and the victims had been taken to Cooper Hospital, where they were declared dead.

The divisional fire officer in charge, Purushottam Sandikar, described the occurrence as follows: “A neighbour who was working on the terrace at around eight in the morning saw smoke coming from the tenth floor. They called the fire department and tried to put out the flames.
“We put out the fire within 30 minutes, but cooling operations took a while,” Sandikar continued. After being taken to Cooper Hospital, the three people discovered in the fire were pronounced dead by the physician. Three died from smoke inhalation, and two died from the effects of burns. It was difficult to rescue the deceased because of the house’s contained layout.
