Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh Inaugurates ASSOCHAM Environment and Carbon Conference in New Delhi

Kirti Vardhan Singh, Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, inaugurated the ASSOCHAM Environment and Carbon Conference in New Delhi today. The theme of the conference is “Fostering a Collaborative Ecosystem to Achieve Net Zero by 2070”.

Addressing the conference, Singh said climate and environmental change is a global problem today but the government is taking various steps to protect the country from its impact. He said the government is working to achieve net zero consumption by 2070 and fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision Vikshit Bharat 2047. Singh said that the need of the hour is to find a solution to the problems affecting the climate and environment globally.

Referring to the water crisis and its impact on rural India, Singh said people in rural areas of the country, especially farmers, were happy at present after their problems were solved under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The minister said the government was determined to provide all necessary support to the industry and stakeholders to solve the environmental problems in the country. He assured that the outcome of the conference will guide future policies. Our correspondent reports that several representatives of industry, research and environmental organisations from all over the country are taking part in the one-day conference.
