On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on his “spectacular” victory and said he was looking forward to working with him once more to further strengthen India-U.S. relations in a number of areas, including technology, defence, energy, and space.
Official sources said Mr. Modi also congratulated Mr. Trump on the performance of his Republican Party in the U.S. Congressional elections, as both leaders affirmed that they would work together for world peace.
When Mr. Trump stated that the “whole world loves Modi” and referred to India as a “magnificent country” and the Prime Minister as a “magnificent man,” the two leaders’ warm personal chemistry was evident during the phone call.
According to the sources, Mr. Trump also stated that he regarded Mr. Modi and India as true friends, mentioning that the Indian leader was among the first international leaders he spoke to following his win.

“Had a great conversation with my friend, President Donald Trump, congratulating him on his spectacular victory,” Mr. Modi wrote in a post on X. We look forward to collaborating closely once more to improve India-US ties in a number of areas, including technology, military, energy, and space. Earlier in the day, Mr. Modi congratulated Mr. Trump on his “historic” victory in the presidential election and expressed his eagerness to continue working with him to fortify the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership.
