In a high-stakes joint operation with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), a team from Mumbai Crime Branch has apprehended the shooter in the Baba Siddiqui murder case, Shiva Kumar, along with two other suspects. The intense manhunt, which spanned 25 days, led officers across state lines to Bahraich District in Uttar Pradesh.
The Mumbai Crime Branch team, comprising six officers and 15 personnel, coordinated meticulously with the UP STF to confirm the location of the accused. Officers API Amol Mali (Unit 5), PSI Swapnil Kale (Unit 7), PC Vikas Chavan (Unit 3), and PC Mahesh Sawant (Unit 7) led the operation. In total, 21 personnel were involved in tracking and securing the arrests.
Today, five individuals tied to the Baba Siddiqui case, including Kumar, are being flown to Mumbai. They are expected to arrive at 2:10 PM at Terminal T1 of Mumbai Domestic Airport, where a heightened security presence is anticipated. This operation marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation of one of the city’s most high-profile cases.
