Jogeshwari in Crisis! Water Shortage, Traffic Chaos & Govt Negligence – When Will the Nightmare End?

Sandeep Kasalkar (Special Correspondent)

Jogeshwari (East) in Mumbai has long been plagued by basic infrastructure issues. Water scarcity, traffic congestion, and flaws in government schemes have made life difficult for residents. However, the government has failed to take concrete action. Raising this concern, MLA Anant (Bala) Nar strongly questioned the authorities during the 2025 budget session.

Severe Water Crisis – Who is Responsible?

Mumbai requires 4,600 to 4,800 million liters of water daily, but only 4,000 million liters are supplied. Out of this, 600 to 800 million liters never reach areas like Jogeshwari! While new reservoirs are essential for the growing population, why is the government silent on this issue? MLA Bala Nar highlighted this pressing problem in the assembly.

Injustice in Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Scheme – Poor Left Helpless!

The income limit for the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Scheme remains unchanged at ₹25,000, which is inadequate in today’s times. This limit should be raised to at least ₹60,000, but why is the government delaying this decision? Moreover, no updated list of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families has been prepared since 2005, leaving thousands of poor families deprived of benefits.

Traffic Congestion and Abandoned Vehicles – Is the Administration Asleep?

Traffic congestion has become a major problem in Jogeshwari. Illegal parking and abandoned vehicles lying on roads for years cause severe traffic jams. The traffic department lacks proper arrangements to remove and manage these vehicles, a serious concern raised by MLA Bala Nar in the assembly.

When Will the Government Wake Up for Jogeshwari?

Despite ongoing struggles, Jogeshwari residents continue to suffer due to government negligence. The administration must take immediate action to resolve issues related to water supply, traffic, and public welfare schemes, as demanded by MLA Anant (Bala) Nar.

Now the big question remains—will Jogeshwari’s development remain just a promise, or will the government take real action? The entire city is watching!
